REMEMBERING THE COMMANDER OF THE ENOLA GAY. November 1st, Brig. Gen. Paul W. Tibbets Jr., the commander and pilot of the Enola Gay, died at the age of 92. Tibbets guided the famous plane, named after his mother, over the Pacific and dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima in the final days of World War II.
